Stingrays are Cool!

We had the best time at the Toronto Zoo's Stingray exhibit. I had know idea what we were in for but was thrilled to find out that my kids would get the chance to touch dozens of stingrays. My son got right in there and had his hand in the water in seconds, but my daughter was a little scared but once I helped her lean over and touch a wing, she couldn't get enough. It really was so educational and so much fun. If you haven't been there yet, give it a try.

Oh yeah, there are a few sharks quietly swimming around but the stingrays steal the show. The come right up to your hands.

My kids are soon to be starting soccer. Yep, the little guy is finally old enough to play too! Yeah! Well, for almost 4 years we (hubby and I) kept thinking 'yeah' , but now that hubby has been roped into coaching two teams, we're not as excited.

My dilemma.... kids also take swimming, and love it but now I'm on the fence between knowing I'll exhaust them, especially after a full day of school or camp,or pulling them out knowing they'll go to the bottom of the waiting list for our prime swimming lesson time slots.

Any advice?

I don't mean to complain, but what's with the weather? We got a little tease of spring on the weekend then it just packed up and left again.

I see the tulips pushing out through the ground, the lawn care companies are at my door every night so I know we're getting close, but when?

Kids are so funny too - all they have to do is feel that warm sun one day and that's it - no more snow boots, no more snow pants - they want to move right into summer clothing. But who can blame them?

Maybe if I think warm, sunny thoughts the weather will follow?

Took the kids to see the Disney on Ice - Worlds of Fantasy last night and it's honestly the best and liveliest On Ice show we've seen in the last two years.

Worlds of Fantasy showcases beloved characters from Disney/Pixar’s Cars, Disney’s The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, as well as a live debut of the magical cast of new Fairies from Walt Disney Pictures Tinker Bell.

If your kids are Cars fans - each car (real car ) comes out on the ice and drives and spins around - my son was speechless.

There is a show March 19 and another one just added for Sunday, March 22 @ 9am at the Rogers Centre.

Ok, I know, I sound bitter, but after finally making our way out of a week long plague, I had my heart set on some not too bitterly cold fresh air fun.

Gaming Guilt - True Confessions of a Mom Who Gave In

Ok, so I feel like I have to confess something here because I'm feeling a lot of guilt, and not all of it is imposed by my husband.

After refusing to get my kids into video games at an early age, unless they were reading or math games that played on my old PC, I succumbed to the hype and bought the new Leapster 2. With a family vacation looming and after reading all the reviews of how the Leapster is educational and sanity saving, I gave in and went to Costco to buy the bundle.

Yes, I have two kids and only bought one console... Yes, I was kidding myself that a 5 and 3 year old could and would share and not completely melt down....

Here is how the episode played out:

Next scene: Grandma comes to the front door the next day with a second console and peace, or relative peace, returns.

Next scene: Not sure if I should be happy or feel like a bad parent because my sick kid spent the morning quietly and happily playing some pet game on her Leapster. I keep telling myself "she's learning letters and numbers' but I'm not sure how well I'm able to convince myself.

Next scene: Hubby comments on apparent transformation of our daughter into a video game addict and warns of imminent destruction of all that is innocent and good about childhood. In my defense, I half heartily quote some study on how video-gaming improves learning for kids but because I couldn't remember the details, I didn't manage to convince him or myself.

Next scene: Hubby and I make plans to get kids out for more exercise, but as we sit down with our hot cups of tea (that we drink without interruption may I add ) agree it's nice to have some quiet time on a chilly afternoon.

Guilt is still there, but I think it's something I can live with... ;)

Disney on Ice - Something for all Ages

So, we had the pleasure of taking the kids to see the latest Disney on Ice show over the holidays. We took our 3 year old and five year old.

The little guy started to poop-out about half -way through until the Incredibles started running around to save Mickey and Minnie. He loves superheroes so the fact that there were superheroes and disney characters in one show was amazing for him.

My 5 year old girl, however, wasn't so crazy about the superheroes, but loved the fact that every other scene featured at least one guest appearance from one of the many princesses. Although she didn't seem to thrilled about the Incredibles during the show, soon as we got home we had to rent the video and now she counts them among her favourite Disney characters.

My hubbie and I were happy because both kids, who have completely different tastes in everything, managed to both enjoy the same show.

Candy anyone?

Ok, so Halloween is over and, as usual, I over-shopped for candy. Every year I run out at the last minute to get an extra bag of bars or a box of chips because of my paranoia that I'll run short halfway through. I should also mention, however, that one of the reasons we look like we might be short is because the huge boxes of bulk candy that we purchased at Costco back in September have metamorphasized into nothing but wrappers in my office bin.

So, back to my story...

I run out to get extras and then I make sure that all of my decorations and candles and scary gadgets are just perfect. I then dress up my kids, send them off with daddy, and then eagerly wait at the window for all the tricker-treaters, but they never come.

I think I had a total of no more than 30 kids come to my door. If I had known, or remembered from last year that I would only have so few, I wouldn't have purchased that additional 80 pack of chips, or that 65 bag of bars. For some reason, I was in denial and that denial not only cost me out of pocket, but unless I find a home for them, and my own kids' candy soon, it will cost me and my hubby in pounds gained too. And to think, the box of chocolate season is just around the corner....

My favourite month

We're just a few short hours away from October, one of my favourite months

Sure, I love the autumn and the leaves and colours and the nice weather and all the stuff that comes with it, but what I really love is that it's not September. I can pratically see you all nodding in agreement with me on this one.

When I was a kid, and even a university student, September was fun; new clothes, new friends, new courses... Now that I have two kids, September and the last few weeks of August, mean getting ready, shopping, lists, new schedules, registration, lessons and, worst of all, lunches!

Now that October is just about here, my calendar has a little bit more white space. My hubby and I are getting into that rhythm where we know where the kids are supposed to be on any given day. We've actually even had one day over the weekend where there was nothing planned or booked and looking to October, I know that I have a month to six weeks of this before we hit the holiday pre-season.

So, moms and dads, enjoy this time - it's fleeting but worth every minute.

Holy blast from the past, Batman!

My kids got a brief glimpse of an old Batman and Robin cartoon and now they are hooked.

My five year old daughter seems to have a crush on Robin, and my year old son loves anything Batman and chuckles at every funny saying uttered by both crusaders.

They find the episodes funny and lately if I hear them laughing while watching TV, I know it's because Robin said something like "Holy Red Snapper, Batman" or "Holy Chicken Coop, Batman".

I found a few sites dedicated to the great prosaic sayings of the Batman and Robin team and I thought I'd pass them on.

Summer planning.....the haze lifts....

Ok, how did it get to be the August long weekend? Would someone please tell me what happened to July? Did one big rainstorm just wash it from my memory?

Not sure if I'm the only one, but June and July always end up being crazy busy for me and my family and work.

There is something about the approaching summer that sends everyone in a tailspin. For parents, you know that school is ending soon, so once June 1st hits, your madly trying to figure out what you're going to do with you kids once the school doors close for two months.

If kids could only understand that stress that summer planning causes their dear parents, maybe they wouldn't give us the guilt trip when that awsome camp or sports club or activity didn't turn out absolutely perfectomundo.

It's hard to know from an ad that you read in the paper or online if an summer activity is going to be the right one for your kids. If you can, the best thing is really to take your kids to the camp or program, if only for a few minutes, to let them get a feel for what's going on and if it's for them.

If you have a very shy kid, like mine, that never stops talking or bouncing around at home but then all of a sudden goes into her cocoon outside the house, then it's even harder to figure out what's best. I try to go for something that keeps her really busy and introduces her to some new things so that even if she's not with kids she knows, then she really doesn't have the time to think about it.

I think for next year, we'll try to coordinate at least a few weeks worth of activities with her closest friends. That way we have playdates and camp or childcare all in one. Hey, that's a pretty good idea. Maybe if I start planning now, this time next year I'll be writing about how easy June and July are. Hmmmmmm

Little Gardeners

Ever since our daughter was old enough to walk, she loved helping us garden. We'd give her pint-sized gardening tools and a spot to dig in and she couldn't be happier. It didn't take long before we created a vegetable patch just for her. I would take her to the nursery where she could pick out what she wanted to plant. We didn't always plant from seed because sometimes it just took too long for her to see results, so we'd often pick some plants that were already on their way.

Everyday we'd go out to the garden to see what was new and there was always something to water or pick. My favourite kid-friendly veggie is the cherry tomatoe because they are great to just pick off and eat, and there is always a new one ripening so it's a great learning experience and adventure.

Last year we planted strawberries and both kids had a great time watching them grow and then tasting what a fresh berry tasted like. My two-year old found it difficult to be patient so he ate most of the berries before they even remotely resembled a strawberry frustrating his sister who probably only managed to salvage one or two ripe ones the entire season.

This year, we're trying to come up with a few new ideas for our every-expanding veggie patch. Just by adding or changing our garden line-up each summer, our kids learn so much about how things grow, the importance of being good to the earth, and best of all, how great things taste when you can pick them and eat them from your very own garden.

My kids are also learning where fruits and vegetables come from and they now ask questions about the origins of a new fruit or veggie when we are at the grocery store, or serving it at dinner, which I love. In our fast-paced world, I can't think of a better and more enjoyable lesson to teach than where our food comes from, and I don't mean the local grocery store.

I listened to a very interesting interview on CBC a few months ago with the author of Boys Adrift (Leonard Sax) and I thought I'd upload the podcast in case you're interested in what this author and doctor had to say about environmental issues (yes, exposure to those chemicals in plastics are sited as well) that are affecting how our sons are growing up and why some researchers are saying they are now lagging behind girls regarding their education and ultimately productivity.

It's almost worse than Christmas pressure, it's March Break pressure!

Everyone you meet keeps asking "so, what are you and the kids up to for the March Break?" and you feel the pressure to say something interesting like "we're kayaking down the Amazon" or "building homes for the homeless" or "hiking Everest". I know I shouldn't feel this way, but even with just one in school so far, I feel like I must have a good answer, or at least better one than "I'm working so I can continue to feed and clothe this child and keep her in the my little pony habit she's become accustomed to soooooo she'll be at grandma's that week thank you very much".

Are you interested in how your baby learns? We are, too!

The Parent–Infant Lab at the University of Toronto at Scarborough is dedicated to answering this question. Our research sheds new light on how parent–infant interactions can enhance the ways babies learn to regulate their emotions and form new memories.

It’s interesting and easy to participate. You and your baby simply make one or two 45-minute visits to the University of Toronto at Scarborough. Your baby will receive a complementary “Baby Scientist” T-shirt as a token of our appreciation. Free parking is provided.

A lot has been in the news lately about the chemicals and hazzardous preservatives that are showing up in not only our beauty products, but in the shampoos, soaps and creams we use on our babies and kids.

I found a site that is a database for the good, the bad, and the ugly products that are out there. Was I surprised to find out that some of the innocent products I was using on my kids were on the list(and I'm talking about products made for babies and kids, not hairspray, or anti-aging cream).

Once again, I have no idea where another month went. I seem to remember hitting December, then Christmas and then after that it's all a blur.

December across Durham was hopping, but now January has slowed down a bit, and I, for one, am a bit relieved because I don't think I could keep up with the pace.

So once again I find I'm really late getting back to my blogging. I find I either have these creative times where I find something to say or interesting to share or else I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off (and for some reason the latter situation seems to be the more dominant).

As I check the calendar, I realize that it's already December 12th. I'm not sure where I've been for the past two weeks but I keep thinking it's the first week of December. I'm thinking that I still have time to get out some Christmas cards, but then I remember my daughter wants to bring 20 cards to her classmates, and since she can barely write her name, I guess it will be another year for friends and family not to hear from me, while twenty 4 and 5 year olds get holiday greetings....maybe next year....

Wiggle fun

Last weekend we took our 2 and 4 year old to see the Wiggles. If you ever get a chance to go, it was definitely worth it. The show is colourful with great music and really fast paced and upbeat to cater to the never dwindling energy of kids.

If you don't know much about the Wiggles and their music, you can find their TV show on Treehouse, or pick up a CD or video. Their music is not the typical sacharine kiddie music that many of us are forced to listen to - instead, many the tunes get my feet steppin to the beat. And, their Christmas music is really nice too. No, I don't get paid for advertising for the Wiggles, but we have been listening to them since my daughter was under two, so that's going on 3 years now, and we still enjoy them.

Is Four the new Thirteen?

September and October for our family was nuts. My 4 year old had just started school and had morphed into this unknown creature that cried and screamed for any and every reason, including her brother breathing the wrong way. We were all walking around on eggshells, afraid of looking at her the wrong way and were at our wits end when all of a sudden, without any warning, a calm ensued (albeit a temporary one). All of a sudden, she wanted to play nice with her brother, read quietly and help me with cleaning. Now I've heard that four is the new 2 except with a lot of attitude, but from what I've experienced, I'm thinking four is the new thirteen.

Initially, I thought I was the only one experiencing this roller coaster ride of emotions and moods and independence, but once I got to talking to other parents, I realized that a lot of parents are experiencing the same thing.

Have any of your experienced something similar? Am I the only one wondering that if it's this way at four, what will it be like at thirteen? I've been looking for books on the subject, but have yet to find any that really focus on fours. They aren't babies or toddlers, but they aren't really school-aged kids either. If any one has any recommendations, please post them.

At first glance, the title of my post might seem a little odd - why would anyone think the Fall is a time of relaxation?

Well, in our house, it is. After a summer of summer day trips, weekend trips, and camping and cottages, trying to make every warm ray of sunshine count, it's actually a bit of a relief to wake up to a cold and rainy day with no big expectations.

It's a nice feeling to just say to the kids "this morning, let's watch a movie, read a book, do a puzzle or play a game". Everyone was in such a quiet mood, now that school has started, and back to school shopping is over, that I actually even managed to squeeze in an midday snooze. No, I'm not deluded, I know the Fall can be hectic too, but there is something peaceful about a cloudy, cool morning, where everyone just kind of takes it slow and there are no expectations for the day.

Tips for the Back to School Shopping Daze

Soon as the August long weekend is over, most parents, especially the moms, are faced with the both fun and dreaded back-to-school shopping daze. Moms, you know what I'm talking about. Depending on the age and sex of your child, you end up either dragging or being dragged throughout the mall searching for 'the' outfit, school box, sneakers, or backpack.

For those of us who have children young enough who really don't care what they wear, and are just thrilled when we come home with a Thomas the Train lunchbox, or Dora sneakers, enjoy it while you can, because it doesn't take long before you are faced with 'the' shopping experience to end all shopping experiences - shopping with a teen.

For those moms who work all week and are left with no time but to take their teen shopping on the weekend, when every other parent is out shopping with their kids, here are a few tips to help you keep your sanity:

1) Have a good breakfast, a strong cup of coffee, and get out of the house early. The earlier you get into the mall, the earlier you can get out. Don't even think about missing breakfast, you'll need the nourishment to keep you going through this very physical and emotional shopping boot camp.

2) Make a plan with your kids before leaving the house and have them sign it. I know it sounds extreme, but, remember, it's for your own sanity. Make sure they know you will only go to 'x' number of stores, and spend 'x' number of dollars and, that once you've reached both limits, it's time to pack up and go.

3) Keep on schedule. Remember, spending more time looking at tops with the girl, and not as much time looking at sneakers with the boy, could lead to a mutiny. Set a timer if you must.

4) Take breaks. When you notice eyes are starting to glaze over, yours or theirs, recognize that food and drink and rest are needed, otherwise you'll never finish.

5) Know that you're not alone and lend a helping hand, glance, wink to the other mothers you see struggling with their shopping daze. Actually, it might be a good idea to print an extra copy of these tips out for your friends, or keep some in your purse to hand out to those moms who look lost and could use a little moral support.

Summer Fun

Wow, where did June go? It seems like May was a long month, with long cool, rainy days, and then all of a sudden, it's almost July.

Soon as the warm weather hit, there was just no time for hanging around inside because there was just so much too do at home and everywhere else.

With gardening, and waterpads, sprinkler fun, and wading pools, concerts in the park, and outdoor patios for mom and dad, there are almost not enough hours in the day.

When I look through the Durham Region summer events, it's unbelievable how much is going on. There are carnivals, fireworks, outdoor concerts and movies, games, and fairs, waterfront fun and more. It's almost as if you blink you'll miss something really great.

This year we're planning on doing a few day trips out of the Region, especially to the Toronto Zoo, Ontario Place and Marineland, but we also have our list of things to do here as well. There is the Bomanville Zoo, Harbour Days, Cedar Park Resort, the Peterborough Zoo, all of the lake parks across Durham (Ajax, Oshawa and Whitby are our faves so far). Then there is fishing and canoeing in Lynde Shores, and biking the waterfront trail.

We're always on the look out for new things to do, so if you have a suggestion, send us an e-mail and the best summer entry will win a prize.

Finally a beautiful weekend to get us thinking about spring and summer. The kids were out playing, helping us garden (ok, helping is stretching it), at the park, meeting new friends - it was fabulous. My two year is finally experiencing the freedom of walking, running and climbing without snowpants and heavy clothes and snow while our four year old is contemplating life without training wheels. Life is good, summer is almost here. :)

Where's Spring?

Is it just me, or was it hard to get into the Easter egg hunt spirit with these frigid temperatures? Don't want to be a weather whiner, but where's that warmer spring breeze, not to mention the sun?

If your family is anything like mine, everyone is incredibly anxious awaiting the warmer weather so we can forget about winter activities and start up with the spring ones - like nice walks/hikes, hanging out at the park, biking, roller-blading, gardening, and skateboarding (for the kids, I hung up my skateboard years ago :) )

I have to admit that I'm fresh out of ideas for activities for this type of in between neither winter nor spring weather. If you have any suggestions, please send them on. In the meantime, I'll continue in denial as I put away our winter clothes.

Well, I've finally got that skip in my step back and all I needed was one gorgeous day of spring to find it! It's so lovely to walk out and not have to shovel, or get so bundled up. And it just wasn't just me who was feeling it, my kids managed to shed their winter gear when I wasn't looking and ran around the yard giggling as I haven't seen them do since before the snow. The winter is great, for a few months, but there is nothing more freeing and invigorating than spring air and the warmth of the sun against the blue sky.

It wasn't just us that was feeling it either. We spent the morning at the Toronto Zoo and the animals were just basking in the rays, and the monkeys were a little more lively than I remember them in December and maybe when they looked at us, they thought the same thing. :)

Finding the R&R in March Break

With only a few short weeks away till March Break, parents are scrambling to figure out what they are going to do with themselves and the kids. For parents of small children you know that the under 10 crowd is unlikely to contest your suggestions. However, it does get tricky trying to figure out what to do with those tweens and teens. No matter how 'cool' you think your holiday activities might sound, you're almost guaranteed to end up with at least some dissension in the ranks.

Some kids are easily pleased, and they are just happy to know they are going to be home for a week without having to get up early every morning and go to school, where others aren't so easy. Since not every family can afford a week or two away on some great holiday, or even a week of camp, parents need to know that they don't have to feel guilty or bad about spending a quiet break with their family. They key is just to do a little planning, and I mean a little.

If you haven't thought much about it yet, ask your kids what they'd like to do, and if they say 'nothing' then go with it and instead of planning something everyday, pick one or two days of the break where you'll do something as a family, even if it's just going skating, swimming or to a movie, and then plan one or two things for them to do with their friends. There are tonnes of options from across Durham Region, and many cost very little or nothing at all. Put everything down in the calendar, and there you have it - March Break is planned! Make sure you leave at least 2 or 3 days for either spur of the moment activities, or video game/tv watching/book reading for everyone and you'll find that when it's time for everyone to go back to school, that everyone had some fun, had some family time and some old fashioned R&R.

Durham's Deep Freeze

If you could see me as I type, you'd know I had mittens on and bundled up in fleece worthy of an arctic snow expedition. What is normally the warmest of rooms, my office has recently turned into the north pole with this deep freeze. I know I sound like a weather wimp, but it's cold.

Extremely cold weather and little kids don't mix very well. Not only do they not always understand why we can't go out to play when the sun is out and there is enough snow to have some fun, but it also presents a mobility challenge as well. Most of you know what it's like to bundle a 12 month old, who is just getting the running/walking thing mastered. You bundle them so much from their heads to their toes that their newly found balance is toast - and they do nothing but fall and can't get up, very reminiscent of turtles on their backs.

Having spent several winters in Alberta where the weather is much nippier than this for months at a time, I'm used to the cold (not that I like it) and bundling the kids up but it's not until they get a little bit older, when they can brave the cold and master moving in bulky snowsuits and boots, that winter really becomes fun, at least in my opinion. There is nothing like building the first snowman (snow person) with your child, watching them toboggan for the first time, teaching them how to make snow angels and snow balls - this is the fun stuff. Not that you want to rush their growing, because it happens so fast anyway, but these are the moments when you realize you have a real little person there, and that they are a lot of fun.

I could go on for ages here, but my keyboard is frosting over...

To the Toronto Zoo

With this mild weather, the Toronto Zoo is a fabulous activity. Parking is free until March, and there aren't any crowds so you can really take your time seeing everything.

We're lucky being so close to the Toronto Zoo here in Durham - it only takes about 15-20min on the 401 from most parts of Durham, if not less so it's a great option for just a quick trip, and even better if you have a pass.

Great Programs for Girls

If you have a girl between the age of 6 and 16, you really have to check out all of the fabulous educational, fun and empowering programs offered by our Girls Inc.

Programs are very affordable and currently include reading clubs, scrapbooking classes, and science and math sessions for girls that are hands on, which lets them take things apart and find out how they work (nothing this cool was around when I was a kid).

January - Now what?

Well the mad rush is over, and a sense of calm has started to return to your household, and now you're left with the last bit of leftovers and thoughts of the new year.

For many parents, January is not only a time of resolutions, it's also a time where we find ourselves actually realizing it's winter and that it's a good time to start thinking of winter activities to do with the kids.

For those out there who like to deny that winter is here, I always find that indoor activities like swimming is a great way to go. There are a lot of great recreation centres across the region with waterslides for the kids and saunas and whirlpools for the parents.

If you're a winter activity lover, you can't beat ice skating. Even if you're not that great of a skater, it's a fun way to spend a Saturday or Sunday with the kids. Think your kids are too young? You'd be surprised how early the little ones take to the ice - just be sure to put a helmet on them before you go.

I would talk a bit about skiing and snowboarding, but the lack of snow has made this winter less than a good option and I don't want to upset our skiing and snowboarding friends anymore than I have to. :)

Less than a week away...what?

Yes, Christmas is less than a week away and the shopping rush is on. Every parent is trying to fit in parties, baking, gift wrapping, teacher presents, kids presents and everything in between, while at the same time trying to get into the Christmas spirit - it's crazy. Thinking back, I really wish I hadn't skipped that parenting101 course on how to survive and thrive through the holidays. :)

Not sure how you're going to find time to fit in that last bit of shopping? Well, have no fear because stores like Walmart and Toy R Us have provided us with almost around the clock shopping for this time of year. Yes, if you live in Oshawa or Pickering, you can shop Walmart around the clock (24hrs/a day) from now until 6pm on December 24th. So we no longer have any excuses about not being able to get our Christmas shopping done. :) If you live in Ajax, however, you're confined to the 7am-11pm shopping schedule, which means no shopping all night for you, mom.

I'm actually not sure if I am done my Christmas shopping, since I've kind of lost track. Anyone else so busy shopping and hiding gifts that you're no longer sure what you've bought for whom and, more seriously, where you've put them? I'm thinking for next year I'm going to look at investing in some sort of gift-GPS system. You know, I buy them, label them with a tracking tag, and then come Christmas eve all you need to do is turn on your locator and 'voila' you no longer face the problem of not finding all those gifts until Easter, or worse yet, when your kids are too old for them.

While researching an article on home schooling in Durham and across Ontario/Canada, I came across some good information and links that I thought I'd share. I seem to be running into more and more parents who are interested in teaching their kids at home. I can't say that the idea of home schooling hasn't crossed my mind, but personally, although I think I could teach my children, I don't think I'd do the best job of turning off mommy mode and turning on teacher mode - I know myself too well. :) But the parents that are out there home schooling are doing a fantastic job. I guess you need to know what your personality type is and what's best for your kids. If you homeschool, and are interested in sharing some of your experiences for an upcoming article, please send me a note.

Finding a Tree

Over the last few years, we've decided to try a real Christmas tree at home, which means in early December, we set out in search of the perfect tree.

Now depending on the amount of time you have, you can either make finding the perfect tree as quick as you want, or an entire event (no parent guilt here either way). :)

You can find great trees all over Durham from everywhere from nurseries, to tree farms, the Superstore, and the Home Depot to fit any budget or tree requirements.

If you have the time, and the inclination, there are some great tree farms around Durham that are great outings for the whole family and a nice way to spend a not too chilly Saturday or Sunday.

Hi Everyone,

It's been a very busy few months at Parent Source with the launch of our website for Durham Region parents - ParentSource.ca, but it's also been a lot of fun. Thank you to all of our parents and sponsors for their support and great feedback, it's really appreciated.

There is just so much going on for parents and their kids, from babies to teens, across Durham. Even as a Durham (Whitby) native, I'm constantly finding new and interesting places to go and things to do on a daily basis.

Because we can't always fit everything that we find into our website, we've decided to create this blog to capture all the other info and ideas that we come across everyday.
